Hanover, MA - June 7, 2022 –Rockland Trust has launched its 14th annual Reading Makes Cent$(Opens in a new Window) program, a reading and financial literacy initiative for students across the Bank’s network of 123 branches throughout Massachusetts.
Reading Makes Cent$ aims to boost literacy and financial responsibility for students during the summer months. Running June 1 through August 31, the program allows students to earn money by tracking their summer reading in a journal and drawing a picture or writing about the books they read. Students have until September 12 to open their account or have it credited.
“As a community-oriented bank, it is important to us to provide fun and educational programming that inspires individuals and families throughout our footprint to build a healthy relationship with money at any age,” said Margaret McCarthy, Senior Vice President of Retail Administration. “We are ecstatic to kick off our 14th year of the Reading Makes Cent$ program and invite community members to visit our branches and participate in our reading events throughout the summer!”
Students entering grades 1-8 in the fall of 2022 are eligible to participate in the program. Participants, and a parent or guardian, can download a Reading Makes Cent$ Journal from RocklandTrust.com/read (Opens in a new Window)or pick up a journal at one of our branches. Rockland Trust is partnering with a variety of libraries to promote reading and learning the value of saving money! Check out the scheduled event calendar below.
