Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation, Inc. Donates $1.125 Million to Greater Boston and MetroWest Organizations

 
Rockland, MA – May 20, 2015 –The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation, Inc. announced today that it has donated $1.125 million in aggregate grants to four community organizations in Greater Boston and MetroWest that provide youth and family services. The four organizations receiving grants are the Waltham Boys & Girls Club, Hockomock Area YMCA Bernon Family Branch in Franklin, Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston in Newton, and the The John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton.

“The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation is thrilled to make these grants available to four worthy organizations that have a significant and positive influence on their communities,” said Thomas Venables, Chairman and President of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. Venables, who is also a board member at Rockland Trust, continued, “Part of Rockland Trust’s mission is to better those neighborhoods we serve, and these grants will help accomplish that."

Lundquist, who is also Executive Vice President and Director of Retail Delivery, Business Banking, and Home Equity Lending at Rockland Trust, added that “we hope these grants will help these organizations serve even more people and make a positive impact on their lives."

The four grants made by the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation are:

  • The John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton: $340,000 to renovate the Club’s lobby and to create an expanded education center. The center, managed by a full-time certified Education Director/Teacher, will offer new learning-focused programs – primarily in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities as well as in reading, computer competence, and homework assistance.
  • Waltham Boys & Girls Club: $335,000 to help fully renovate the auditorium. The renovated auditorium will serve as a central point for the Club’s arts programs for young people.
  • Hockomock Area YMCA Bernon Family Branch in Franklin: $250,000 to install a splash park. The splash park will be accessible to all ages and abilities, adding value to the summer camp, child care, and after school programs, while providing families with a place to spend quality time together.
  • Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston in Newton: $200,000 to build an outdoor pavilion for arts and nature programming. The pavilion will serve as a hub of learning and information for families and children in the area.
