Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation Awards $25,000 in College Scholarships

ROCKLAND, Mass. (June 24, 2013) - The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation today announced it awarded 10 scholarships of $2,500 each to college-bound high school students in the Metro West region. The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation and a committee formed by the principal of each school selected the winners based on academic achievement, community involvement, character, and financial need.

The Foundation presented scholarships to the following students:

  • AJ Bottoms, a Blackstone Valley Technical High School graduate, will attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst
  • Alexa DeMasse, a Learning Prep School Newton graduate, will attend Salem State
  • Keara DeRose, a Tri-County Regional Vocational High School graduate, will attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst
  • Amanda Leeland, a Bellingham High School graduate, will attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
  • Colleen McLoughlin, a Medfield High School graduate, lives will attend Cornell University
  • Maddie Chambers, a Waltham High School graduate, will attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst
  • Melanie Martins, a Milford High School graduate, will attend Boston University
  • Mikey Jimenez, a Newton North High School graduate, will attend the University of New Hampshire
  • Olivia Bradley, a Foxborough High School graduate, will attend the University of San Francisco.
  • Tamsyn Withers, a Franklin High School graduate, will attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth

The scholarship program was established in 2005 to benefit college-bound high school students in the Metro West region. Through the program, Rockland Trust promotes the importance of education by assisting families with the cost of sending their children to school.

Rockland Trust's Ralph Valente, Senior Vice President and Director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation; Arthur Viana, First Vice President and Director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation; and Kerri Pigott, First Vice President and Metro West District Manager presented the scholarships to the winners during a reception in the bank's Franklin office on June 19, 2013. The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation will also award an 11th $2,500 scholarship to a current Dean College student later this year.
