Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation Donates $7,820 to Franciscan Hospital for Children

Grant to Support Augmentative Communication and Assistive Technology Clinic

ROCKLAND, Mass. (June 26, 2013) - The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation today announced a grant of $7,820 to Franciscan Hospital for Children. The donation will support the hospital's Augmentative Communication and Assistive Technology Clinic, which provides services to children who are unable to communicate effectively through speech. Specifically, the grant allowed the hospital to purchase a Dynavox Maestro, a communication device that can be accessed through touch, visual, and auditory scanning, head tracking or a joystick to facilitate digitized speech, and which will enable children to communicate and interact with family members, peers, and adults in a variety of environments

"Franciscan Hospital for Children provides vital services to those who need specialized assistance, a cause Rockland Trust is happy to support," said Jane Lundquist, Director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. "It is a pleasure to support an organization that values community as much as we do."

Franciscan Hospital for Children promotes the integrity and well-being of children and their caregivers though family-centered programs, and a strong team of dedicated physicians, nurses, clinicians, and educators.

"At Franciscan Hospital for Children, our programs and services provide opportunities for children with a variety of challenges," said Ruth Crowley, Director of Rehabilitative Therapies at Franciscan Hospital for Children. "We are so grateful for this donation from Rockland Trust, which will help us use state-of-the art technology to best meet the needs of children from our local communities."
