Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation Donates $800 to Massachusetts Audubon Society’s Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary
ROCKLAND, Mass. (June 24, 2013) - The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation today announced a grant of $800 to the Massachusetts Audubon Society. The donation will support the society's Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Norfolk, Massachusetts with the addition of two new benches for the Sanctuary's Nature Play area.
"At Rockland Trust, we recognize the crucial role the Massachusetts Audubon Society plays in our wildlife and habitat protection efforts," said Jeanne Travers of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. "We are pleased to do our part and help the society maintain its Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary as a beautiful place for the community to celebrate nature."
The Massachusetts Audubon Society works to protect the nature of Massachusetts for both people and wildlife. With more than 100,000 members statewide, the society cares for 35,000 acres of conservation land, provides school, camp, and other educational programs for children and adults throughout the state, and advocates for sound environmental policies at multiple levels of government. With this donation from the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation, the residents of Massachusetts can continue to enjoy the extensive boardwalk system at the Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary and the Nature Play area designed and completed by Dan White, local Eagle Scout candidate from Wrentham.
"At the Massachusetts Audubon Society, our efforts go to not only the preservation of our animals and habitats, but to the education of our citizens as well," said Doug Williams, Director of the Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary. "We are very grateful for this donation from Rockland Trust, which will allow the community to continue to enjoy and learn from the wildlife we fight so hard to protect."
