Rockland Trust Named Official Bank of the Cape Cod Baseball League Museum and Regional Sponsor of the 2013 Season
ROCKLAND, Mass. (June 6, 2013) - Rockland Trust today announced its support of the Cape Cod Baseball League as the official bank of the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame and Museum, regional sponsor of the 2013 baseball season and presenting sponsor of the 2013 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The Cape Cod Baseball League, the premier amateur baseball league in the United States, runs from June 12 through August 4 in towns throughout Cape Cod, with playoffs beginning on August 6. The 2013 Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at a ceremony presented by Rockland Trust on November 16 at Chatham Bars Inn. As part of the partnership, a mobile Hall of Fame memorabilia case will travel across Rockland Trust branches for customer viewing during the three-month season.
"At Rockland Trust, we've had a long-standing commitment to actively partnering with our communities and supporting local organizations," said Brian E. Griffin, Cape Cod Regional Manager of Commercial Lending at Rockland Trust. "The Cape Cod Baseball League is not only a beloved part of the Cape Cod community, but it is also a springboard for rising talent across the country and an economic driver throughout the Cape. We are excited to be involved in such a longstanding league, and look forward to supporting the teams, Hall of Fame inductees, and Museum throughout 2013."
Started in 1885, the Cape Cod Baseball League had 253 alumni playing in Major League Baseball in 2012, while one in seven current Major League Baseball players are former members of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Players from colleges in all divisions across the country are recruited to the league, which college coaches and professional scouts cite as the best amateur summer league in America. This is Rockland Trust's first sponsorship of the league and the first time the Cape Cod Baseball League will have a presenting sponsor for the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which will honor 8-10 former players, managers, and umpires. The 2013 Hall of Fame class will be announced Sunday, June 9.
"We are pleased and very grateful to have Rockland Trust's support as we enter the 129th season of the nation's best college summer baseball, right here on Cape Cod," said Judy Walden Scarafile, President of the Cape Cod Baseball League. "This league brings the community together through the love of baseball, and offering wholesome family entertainment at no charge. We are excited to have such a great community partner in Rockland Trust to help make it all possible."
The Cape Cod Baseball League plays throughout Bourne, Brewster, Chatham, Cotuit, Falmouth, Harwich, Hyannis, Orleans, Wareham, and Yarmouth-Dennis. For information on the 2013 baseball season or to buy tickets, please visit www.capecodbaseball.org.
