Rockland Trust Provides Financing for the Hannah B. Griffith Shaw Home for the Aged

Nonprofit to Add 59,000-Square-Feet and Expand Services with Financing

Rockland, MA (June 20, 2013) - Rockland Trust today announced a multi-million dollar financing project for the Hannah B. Griffith Shaw Home for the Aged to support the construction of 47 additional units for the elderly in Southeastern Massachusetts. This construction will add 59,000 square-feet to The Shaw Home, located at 299 Wareham Street in Middleboro, nearly doubling its size and adding more skilled nursing home beds.

"At Rockland Trust, we are committed to improving our communities, especially through projects that support some of our more vulnerable populations, including senior citizens," said John Davison, Project Lender at Rockland Trust. "This expansion of The Shaw Home will greatly improve the facility and give the nonprofit more space to offer exceptional services to the elderly."

The Shaw Home is a non-profit organization that currently owns and operates a 60 bed nursing care facility with 20 beds for skilled care and 40 beds for residential care. The Shaw Home opened its doors in 1941 to benefit senior citizens in Southeastern Massachusetts who were unable to care for themselves, and to provide them with a dignified and respectable lifestyle similar to living independently. This project, the fifth major renovation of the property in its 70-year history, will expand the home from 60 units to 107 units. The Shaw Home is undergoing this construction to meet increasing demands for long-term units to properly care for aging residents without having to transfer them elsewhere for care.

"With our expanded facility, we will be able to give more of our residents the opportunity to "age in place," something that is missing with our current facility and puts unnecessary strain on our residents and their families," said Kristine Donnelly, Administrator of The Shaw Home. "We are excited to begin construction and we are thankful to Rockland Trust for making this renovation possible."
