Rockland Trust Sponsors Second Annual Burlington Dancing with the Stars

BURLINGTON, MA - April 22, 2014 - Rockland Trust announced today its sponsorship of the second annual "Dancing with the Stars" fundraiser for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Burlington. The event, scheduled for Friday, April 25, will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bedford. All proceeds generated by the event will support the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" at Burlington High School on Saturday, June 21.

"At Rockland Trust, we strive to support the local communities in which we live and work, which is why we are thrilled to support the 'Dancing with the Stars' fundraiser for a second consecutive year," said Kerri Pigott, District Manager Boston North at Rockland Trust and co-host of the "Dancing with the Stars" event. "We look forward to seeing the positive impact this fundraiser will have on the Burlington community, while having some fun at the same time."

The American Cancer Society "Relay for Life" is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. This year will mark the 11th annual "Relay for Life" event in Burlington.

"We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to Rockland Trust for sponsoring 'Dancing with the Stars' again this year," said Cheryl Shafman, organizer of the "Dancing with the Stars" event. "We are so fortunate to have partnered with them and so extremely grateful to Kerri Pigott for making this all possible. Without her, 'Dancing with the Stars' would never have been brought to life." She added, "I would also like to thank my co-organizer Julie Quinn, for her hard work and dedication in putting this special evening together."

Five pairs of dancers will compete in the contest, including Suzy Shields, Nurse at Fox Hill School and Winchester hospital; Bruce Morey, Business Advisor at McKesson Corporation and Board Member of the Burlington Youth Basketball Association; Linda Tait, Cancer Survivor and Founder of Linda's Family Daycare; Dave Norden, Owner of The Liquor Cabinet and Member of the Burlington Scholarship Foundation Board; and George Balian, Cancer survivor and Employee of the Middlesex Sheriff Office. Kerri Pigott will co-host the event with Jack Ferren, local personality and President of the Burlington Scholarship Foundation. The big mirror-ball trophy winner will be decided by a panel of judges. The event runs from 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. on April 25, and will feature appetizers, dessert, a cash bar, raffles and a silent auction.
