NeighborWorks Housing Solutions Receives $60,000 Grant

Quincy, MA – August 29, 2023 - The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce a $60,000 grant to NeighborWorks Housing Solutions (NHS) for their emergency housing stabilization for seniors as well as their ongoing housing educational programming and support services for individuals and families throughout the South Shore.

The Foundation really understands how they to best support the housing nonprofit community.”

NHS’s Homeowner Education and Counseling program and its senior housing services are vital to increasing affordable housing opportunities in the region. Through the various changes in market conditions over the last few years, NHS's work has been able to assist thousands of individuals and families. Utilizing funds from the grant, NHS will provide workshops and guidance to over 2,000 prospective homebuyers with the hope that roughly 25% will go on to buy a home.

The educational work and services provided by NHS provide participants with resources to overcome that challenge and make their dream of home ownership a reality.”

On top of its existing affordable housing programs, NHS plans to provide coaching and counseling to more than 2,400 households across the South Shore to assist with financial spending, savings practices, and improvement of credit scores. Additionally, the organization will provide financial assistance to 100 seniors, including veterans who are at risk of homelessness. These programs will primarily benefit low-to-moderate-income residents and are tailored to their specific needs.
