Hanover, MA – May 22, 2023 – Join Rockland Trust for a summer of captivating financial literacy programs. The Bank is excited to launch two initiatives to help local families talk about money.
The Bank’s lemonade stand initiative offers a fun way for children to learn about the importance of giving back. By providing lemonade stand kits, the Bank enables families throughout the community to raise money for Tommy’s Place, a local nonprofit providing magical vacation home experiences for children in New England battling cancer. Additionally, on June 1, 2023, Rockland Trust will be kicking off its 15th annual Reading Makes Cent$ program. Reading Makes Cent$ allows students to earn money by tracking their summer reading in a journal.
“As a community-oriented bank, we care deeply about helping the individuals and families we serve develop a healthy relationship with money at every age,” said Margaret McCarthy, Chief Retail Banking Officer at Rockland Trust. “The lemonade stand and Reading Makes Cent$ initiatives help parents and guardians talk to their kids about two important financial topics: saving and sharing. We’re proud to play a small role in initiating those meaningful conversations that will inspire the next generation to feel more confident and comfortable managing their money.”
Lemonade Stand (5/22/23 – 9/30/23): Children who would like to participate in hosting a lemonade stand can simply go to their local branch to pick up a kit that will have everything they need to run the stand. All funds raised during this initiative will be donated to Tommy’s Place. To learn more, please visit RocklandTrust.com/Lemonade.
Reading Makes Cent$ (6/1/23 – 8/31/23): Children entering grades 1-8 in the fall of 2023 are eligible to take part in the program. Participants, and a parent or guardian, can download a Reading Makes Cent$ Journal from RocklandTrust.com/Read or pick up a journal at one of our branches. Students will receive a $2.50 deposit into a Rockland Trust Savings Makes Cent$ account for every book they read, up to 10 books or $25. Children will have until September 15, 2023, to open their account and to be credited.
