Charitable Foundation joins WorcLab

Worcester, Mass. November 20, 2020 - Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation, announced a $5,000 grant to Institute for Energy and Sustainability, Inc. also known as WorcLab, Worcester’s premier general startup incubator. The partnership will create opportunities for collaboration between WorcLab’s startup community and coworking members and Rockland Trust’s small business clientele. WorcLab focuses on supporting small business owners in Worcester and the broader entrepreneurial community.

“What’s important during these challenging times is coming together to support our small businesses and entrepreneurs. It is their ideas and drive that will create new opportunities and help spur the economy,” says Elyson dos Santos, Vice President and Business Development Officer at Rockland Trust. “Our partnership with WorcLab will help give these businesses a home, the right community and the resources they need to thrive.”

WorcLab’s 10,000-square-foot location in Worcester Center, provides startups with a network of strategic partners, prototyping lab space and office space for more than two dozen businesses, a 60-person event space, and a variety of flexible membership options. Their alumni can be found across the city, and include Battery Resourcers, Ennerconnex and ACCL Marketing. 

 “Having banked with Rockland Trust for my own ventures for decades, I’ve seen firsthand the energy they put into supporting small businesses. They genuinely believe in supporting and growing the community and go out of their way to do so. This comes at a crucial time as Worcester’s nine colleges expand their Innovation & Entrepreneurship programs, Entrepreneurship for All launches a new location in the city, MBI opens a new facility and construction begins on The Reactory. We look forward to seeing everything we can accomplish with Rockland Trust as part of the community,” said Larry Genovesi, WorcLab’s Executive Director and a serial entrepreneur.

Rockland Trust opened its first retail branch in February located in the Trolley Yard on Grove Street. Their second Worcester retail branch on Grafton Street is scheduled to open by the end of the year.
