Rockland Trust’s Affiliated Charitable Foundations Award $270,000 in Second Phase of COVID-19 Relief Grants

Hanover, MA (June 2, 2020) – Rockland Trust’s two affiliated charitable foundations (Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation, Inc. and Rockland Trust-Blue Hills Charitable Foundation, Inc.) have made their second phase of COVID-19 relief grants, providing $270,000 in total grants to 43 organizations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Phase II grants were primarily designed to address the needs of individuals whose lives have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and who often do not have access to existing support networks. The three key areas in the second phase of giving focused on:

  • Assisting the homeless and those dealing with housing insecurity;
  • Supporting domestic violence victims;
  • Addressing the needs of vulnerable populations such as children in foster care, immigrants, and refugees.

“We hope these grants provide some measure of relief to those most severely impacted by the ongoing crisis,” said Edward Seksay, President and Chair of both the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation, Inc. and the Rockland Trust – Blue Hills Charitable Foundation, Inc. “Our affiliated foundations are grateful for the opportunity to support organizations that are making a difference for underserved populations.”

The first phase of COVID-19 relief grants by Rockland Trust’s affiliated foundations were comprised of $140,000 in grants to nine local non-profit, front-line organizations across the Rockland Trust footprint to help fund a swift, emergency response to meet basic needs, such as emergency childcare and food insecurity and emergency childcare.
