Rockland Trust’s Affiliated Charitable Foundations Launch a Racial Equity Grant Program for Non-Profits

Hanover, MA – February 22, 2021 - Rockland Trust and its affiliated foundations have announced a Racial Equity Grant Program. The program will provide local nonprofits with funding to support projects that advance racial equity within their organizations. This initiative furthers Rockland Trust’s commitment to diversity and inclusion to the communities it serves.

“At Rockland Trust, we are fortunate to be able to invest in resources to help us build a work environment where colleagues’ differences and similarities are recognized, valued, and celebrated,” said Chris Oddleifson, Chief Executive Officer of Rockland Trust. “We recognize that not all organizations have the same opportunity. This program will assist nonprofits which, like us, are working toward a more fair and just future for their colleagues and our local communities.”

Nonprofits in good standing with the IRS, recognized as 501(c)(3) Public Charities within Rockland Trust's footprint are eligible to apply. Organizations may request funding for new racial equity initiatives or further existing work within their nonprofit or community. Examples of suitable project(s) under this grant program may include:

  • Racial equity training at the Board and/or staff level
  • Education events to foster dialogue and understanding at the organization or community level
  • Organizational policy review
  • Facilitated purchases of books and materials

Projects that are funded through this initiative must be completed within 12 months of the award date. Organizations that currently receive support from Rockland Trust’s affiliated foundations are eligible to apply to this initiative without impacting other funding applications.

"Our foundations are pleased to offer this grant program to the local nonprofit community," said Edward H. Seksay, President and Chair of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation and Rockland Trust-Blue Hills Charitable Foundation. "We are eager to see the innovative programs grantees develop and to witness the meaningful impact of their efforts.”

The Racial Equity Grant program application will be online at RocklandTrust.com/RacialEquityGrants, beginning February 22nd. The deadline for applications is March 19th by 5 pm EST, and grantees will be notified in May.
