Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston and Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation Celebrate Grand Opening of New Arts and Nature Pavilion

Newton, MA. – June 6, 2016 – On Sunday, the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of the Rockland Trust JCC Arts and Nature Pavilion. The new pavilion was made possible by a $200,000 donation from the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. Leaders from the JCC and the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation were joined by families and children for the ceremony. The ceremony included performances by the JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts & Sciences Camp, and the JCC Showstoppers Youth Theater Program.

“The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation is thrilled to help the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston expand its programs with this new pavilion,” said Jennifer Marino, Chief Marketing Officer for Rockland Trust and Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation board member. “Throughout our 108-year history, our commitment to nurturing relationships with our communities has been the bedrock of who we are as a company. Supporting the JCC’s mission reflects our promise to serve as a community partner and enhance their quality of life.”

Last May, the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation donated the funds to the JCC to build an outdoor pavilion for arts and nature programming. The pavilion serves as a hub for families and children of learning and information about Jewish culture and traditions.

“The JCC is extremely grateful for the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation’s significant investment in this project,” said Mark Sokoll, President/CEO for the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston. “We share the vision of offering a place for families and children to learn more about the arts, nature and Jewish life and the Rockland Trust JCC Arts & Nature Pavilion will do just that. Thousands of children and families will have the opportunity to use this space for camp, wellness programs, music, theater, science classes and much more. This project represents further advancement in Our Campaign to Re-imagine the JCC as we strive to re-imagine Jewish life with enhanced programs and facilities.”
