Join Rockland Trust for its 18th Annual Reading Makes Cent$ Program

Hanover, MA – June 1, 2026 – Rockland Trust has launched its 18th annual Reading Makes Cent$ program, a reading and financial literacy initiative for students across the Bank’s network of 150 branches throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Reading Makes Cent$ is a summer program designed to boost students’ literacy and financial responsibility. Running from June 1st through August 31st, students can earn money by reading books. Participants can earn $2.50 per book for up to 10 books (a maximum of $25). For each book, students must complete either a written response or a drawing in their Reading Makes Cent$ journal. Once they have completed four journal entries, they can visit their local branch to open an account or add funds to an existing account. Students have until September 15th to submit their completed journal and to open or credit their account in order to receive their earnings.

“It’s never too early to start building strong financial habits, and what better way than through summer reading?”, said Margaret McCarthy, Chief Retail Banking Officer at Rockland Trust. “Reading Makes Cent$ has become a summer tradition that allows us to show up for our communities in a meaningful and memorable way. The program introduces children to goal setting and saving using a fun rewards system. It also provides our colleagues with opportunities to connect with local students and plant early seeds of financial confidence.”

Students entering grades 1-8 in the fall of 2026 can take part in the program. Participants, and a parent or guardian, can download a Reading Makes Cent$ Journal from RocklandTrust.com/Read or pick up a journal at one of the Bank’s branch locations.
