Rockland Trust’s Affiliated Charitable Foundations Provide $460,000 in Grants to 54 Organizations Across Massachusetts and Rhode Island

Hanover, MA – July 7, 2022 – Rockland Trust’s affiliated charitable foundations (Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation, Inc.; Rockland Trust-Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation, and Rockland Trust-East Boston Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, Inc.) announced that they have provided $460,000 in grants to 54 local area non-profit organizations in the second quarter.

“As a community-oriented bank, we are fortunate to be able to strengthen the neighborhoods we live in and serve by investing in the inspiring work of area non-profits,” said Andrea Borowiecki, Vice President of Charitable Giving & Community Engagement at Rockland Trust. “The grants awarded during the second quarter supported affordable housing, community development, education, financial literacy, health & human services, and youth program initiatives throughout our footprint. We are proud of the relationships we’ve formed with our nonprofit partners and look forward to the impact these organizations will have within our communities for years to come.”

As part of their second-quarter giving, the Rockland Trust – Blue Hills Charitable Foundation provided three Boston-based organizations including FamilyAid, St. Francis House and Mass Insight with multi-year grants that will fund innovative programming focused on children’s health, workforce development and educational disparities.

St. Francis House was awarded a $75,000 grant over three years for their Workforce Development: Pathways to Self-Sufficiency program. Each year, St. Francis House guides 250 homeless adults in Greater Boston communities on a pathway toward stability by providing vocational training and life skills needed to secure and maintain employment. The program includes a 14-week curriculum training program, one-on-one employment services, a career center network that offers workshops, job fairs and resume preparation, and an opportunity to gain access to available housing.

Mass Insight Education & Research Institute Inc. (Mi) has been provided with a $30,000 grant over three years to support their Advanced Placement STEM & English Program. Headquartered in Boston, Mass Insight is a nationwide organization that partners with 90 high schools throughout Massachusetts to create pathways which increase and diversify students’ participation and performance on Advanced Placement (AP) exams.  Mass Insight focuses on the advancement of systemically marginalized students who disproportionately experience barriers to access with respect to advanced academics.

FamilyAid received a $90,000 grant over three years to address the complex needs of more than 3,000 children experiencing homelessness in Greater Boston. This grant will support FamilyAid’s Child Specialist, a content expert who works across the agency’s prevention, shelter, and stabilization programs to provide connections to critical educational and developmental services in the community.

“We are grateful to Rockland Trust for investing in FamilyAid’s two-generation approach to ending family homelessness by supporting our Child Specialist for the next three years,” said FamilyAid President Larry Seamans. “We know that addressing the developmental and educational needs of homeless children today will improve their lives in the future. Together with Rockland Trust, we are giving children facing homelessness the opportunity to thrive.”
