Stimulus Check: What You Need to Know

The Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Department announced that they will be delivering a second round of stimulus payments to those who qualify in 2021. Most payments are scheduled to hit accounts on January 4, 2021.

To find out more information about your specific payment status, visit IRS.GOV and click on the "Get My Economic Impact Payment" link.

Eligibility: Only certain individuals are eligible to receive stimulus checks. To see eligibility requirements, please visit the IRS website. If you believe you are eligible and did not receive a check, it may be due to the fact that you are set to receive credit in a later wave. To see that status of your stimulus check please visit the IRS website.

Direct Deposit: If you had your tax refund made through direct deposit in 2018 or 2019 and are eligible to receive a stimulus check, the IRS will direct deposit into your account on file. If you did not use direct deposit and are eligible, you will receive a paper check. If you are set to receive a paper check but want the funds expedited to your account through direct deposit, please visit the IRS website and provide your Rockland Trust account details.

1/4/2021 update: As a result of an Internal Revenue Service error last week, 15-20 million individuals of the 112 million who were expected to receive their economic impact payments through ACH transactions will receive payments via paper check. The IRS is preparing to open its “Get My Payment” portal to allow individuals to view their EIP status as soon as today, and it was unclear as of this morning whether the portal will tell affected recipients now getting a check that they have received an ACH payment.

Electronic Banking: To see if your account was credited with a stimulus check, view your account history in Rockland Trust Online or Mobile Banking. You can also set up alerts in mobile and online banking to be notified of deposited funds. If you get a paper check, you can always deposit the check through mobile banking with our mobile deposit feature.

Fraud: Scammers are likely to strike during this time and may try to get access to your funds. Remember, we will never reach out to you asking for sensitive account information. If you are suspicious of a call, email, or text please call our Customer Information Center at 508.732.7072 to verify any communications.
